Suddenly

From the New York Times bestselling author of More Than Friends comes an emotionally charged novel that reflects upon the consequences of one irrevocable act.
In the idyllic small town of Tucker, Vermont, life flows at a rhythmic pace for pediatrician Paige Pfeiffer. But when Mara O'Neill, her best friend and medical partner, inexplicably kills herself, Paige's comfortable life is suddenly shattered. Temporarily caring for Mara's newly adopted baby daughter while she comes to grips with her grief, Paige clings to the hope that, in time, her orderly life will return.
What she hadn't counted on were the unexpected pleasures that often come with change, including the touch of a man who offers Paige things she never thought she wanted. She hadn't counted on finding the meaning of life in the death of a friend.
For everyone who has ever made a choice between what is and what could be, Barbara Delinsky unveils a truly moving gift from the heart that captures one woman's story and ultimately speaks to us all.

1- I'm 37 yo and don't feel "that" old... but when for example I see the current fashion and the revival of 80's, I think "Eeek, I already wore that kind of shit when I was a teenager (in the 80's), no way I will wear it again!!!" and then suddenly, I realized I am in fact old. (same when I think Lady Gaga is ridiculous...)
2- I don't have any tatoo or piercing (apart a hole at each of my ears). I never dyed my hair. I think deep inside I can't modify or touch my body (or what the nature gave me when I was born).
So I promise I would never cut one of my finger on purpose ;-p
3- But I always wear make-up and can't go out without... even if I don't wear huge amount. The 2 necessary elements of my make-up since I'm 13 are mascara and "the stuff to hide the dark circles" (anti-cernes)... and you can see on this picture that I really need some right now !
4- When I was pregnant, my biggest fear was not to love my baby. I realized now how ridiculous it was. Leonard is certainly now the person I care the most for !
5- I know that reading that some people won't believe it but I'm shy. For that reason, I feel a lot better with one or two person rather than in a large group of people.
6- Humor is an extremely important element in my life. I make humor or joke all the time. I love to turn everything with humor even things you're not supposed to make fun of.
7- I don't work since years now... and I feel really bad and guilty about that, especially since I made very long studies (I did a Phd in marketing). A kind of huge waste !
8- I hate video games and such (wii included... I think it's ridiculous)... see after all maybe I'm very old
9- I hate mobile phones and don't use mine a lot... for example I rarely answer to my mobile phone... just to the fixed phone I have at home. By the way, i don't know my mobile phone number... see finally I'm extremely old ;-p
10- My astrological sign is virgo and my real name is Virginie, that's why at 37, I'm still virgin... and Leonard has been made by the immaculate conception... of course.
11- I noticed many blythe collectors didn't like dolls when they were a child. Me, I always loved dolls. I loved so much playing with my dolls when i was a little girl that people around me where telling me I would have lot of children... then never imagine I would have lot of... dolls !
12- I hope to turn back to live in Switzerland. I really enjoyed the peace and security you feel when you are in Switzerland. I miss my life there despite I'm happy in Toulouse.
13- When I cut my finger, I was in huge pain, I was terrified... but when the firemen finally arrived to bring me to the ER... well, I immediately noticed they were rather yummy ;-p
(I also notice the doctor in Toulouse who repaired my finger was... hum... very good looking).
Let's say it was the hormons !
14- I quited smoking 4 years ago. I smoked from 19 to 33 and was heavily addicted. I was smoking even when I was sick and had fever. It took me years to decide and to be ready to stop. Anyway, since I stopped I never touch again to a cigarette and was never tempted to do it. Now that I quite, I'm strongly against smoking and just hate when people smoke around me. I always hated the smell of cigarettes (I never smoke inside my house... always went to the balcony even in winter) but now it's even worse. Plus I can accept to be intoxicated by other people smoke while I put so many efforts myself to stop. And note my willpower is not great so if i can do it, other smokers can do it to.
15- I hate myself when I have extra weight and since right now, I need to loose 10 kilos to be okay... well, I really hate myself and think I'm hideous.
16- I'm extremely superticious... I was (I had a lucky panty, lucky bra...) and in fact if I'm honest with myself, I am still... despite I know it's ridiculous.
17- I didn't had any panick attacks since... the middle of my pregnancy. And honestly I had a few reasons to panick a few times since that moment.
18- I named Leonard, Leonard because 1) I love Leonard Cohen, 2) the character Leonard in the movie Two lovers, 3) when I was a child I love a character named Leonard in a TV program for children named L'ile aux enfants, 4) there was a character named Leonard in a song I loved and my mum was singing to me when I was a child.
19- I'm totally against death penalty. i can't support the idea, a state commit a legal murder in the name of justice. It's one of the rare cause I would stand for. Don't ask me why I'm so sensitive about that subject... I don't know.
20- I love to make gifts... probably because I love also to receive gifts.
21- Sometimes, when I'm depressed and negative, I think I just ruined my life and wish to be able to turn back in the past and take some different decisions... this is when I'm negative. When I'm positive, I think I wouldn't like to turn in the past because I was feeling worse than today.
22- When I walk alone in the street, when I'm in the train, metro..

Livin on a Prayer

Livin on a Prayer

Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear ,Livin' on a prayer ....Bon Jovi - Livin On A Prayer

I remember being really young when this song came out, however me and my best friend would have sleep overs jump on the bed listing to this song, I remember getting off the bus running home to watch MTV to see the Video of this Song, it was good times. Livin' On A Prayer, Bon Jovi's signature hit, It has elements of hard-driving heavy metal, storytelling rock n' roll, and romantic pop. In fact, that stylistic merger is built right into the structure of the song. The song opens by establishing—both lyrically and musically—a bleak environment in which the fictional Tommy and Gina's love must somehow endure. Then everything begins to change. As verse gives way to pre-chorus, Bon Jovi stops singing about the problems facing Tommy and Gina and starts singing about their mutual devotion and determination to "give it a shot" no matter what. The chorus has a "moment of transcendence. What has been a progression of gloomy minor chords shifts suddenly into bright and hopeful. while Bon Jovi's voice is suddenly backed by a multi-tracked chorus, making it sound as if a stadium of fans is already singing along. The lyrics turn defiant, Tommy and Gina's love seemingly indomitable. Love conquers all. My Favorite Line in the song is: You live for the fight when it's all that you've got, which was my inspration of todays picture...

Once upon a time
Not so long ago
Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
He's down on his luck...it's tough, so tough
Gina works the diner all day
Working for her man, she brings hom her pay
For love - for love

She says: We've got to hold on to what we've got
'Cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot
For love - we'll give it a shot

We're half way there
Livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear
Livin' on a prayer

Tommy got his six string in hock
Now he's holding in what he used
To make it talk - so tough, it's tough
Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night
Tommy whispers: Baby it's okay, someday

We've got to hold on to what we've got
'Cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot
For love - we'll give it a shot

We're half way there
Livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear
Livin' on a prayer

We've got to hold on ready or not
You live for the fight when it's all that you've got

We're half way there
Livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear
Livin' on a prayer

Suddenly - In COLOR! Also Includes the Original Black-and-White Version which has been Beautifully Restored and Enhanced!

Oscar winner Frank Sinatra is riveting as a cold-hearted assassin in this taut thriller. When the President of the United States makes a train stop in a sleepy California town, the town sheriff (played brilliantly by Sterling Hayden) is notified by a team of Secret Service men who arrive to make sure the town is secure. But three assassins get there first and take over the house overlooking the train station, holding the family hostage while waiting for the President to arrive. Frank Sinatra s portrayal of a cold-blooded killer is flawless turning this film into a compelling drama, now in color for the first time.

Directly in the wake of his Oscar-winning comeback in From Here to Eternity, Frank Sinatra took on the role of a psychopathic hit man in this taut, low-budget film noir. The choice shows how interested Sinatra was in serious acting during the mid- to late '50s; there's nothing remotely likable about this angular, neurotic assassin. He's in the small town of Suddenly to kill the president, who is passing through on a quick train stop. Sinatra makes hostages of a local family and sheriff Sterling Hayden, and the film is basically a countdown to the president's arrival, with Sinatra's patter getting loonier as the day goes on. Aside from the interest of Sinatra's performance (very focused and downright perverse at times), and the film's place in the American noir tradition, Suddenly is uncannily prophetic on the subject of assassination. It's clear that the killer is doing it for the fame as well as the money, a theme that would crop up in later confessions of real-life killers or would-be killers. Perhaps the 1954 film was too prophetic; like Sinatra's Manchurian Candidate, this movie was pulled from circulation for years after the JFK assassination. According to Kitty Kelley's bio of Sinatra, Lee Harvey Oswald saw this film a few days before he took rifle in hand. Now in the public domain, Suddenly is generally available in cheap, scratchy prints. --Robert Horton
